Einige Hotels haben eine nette Möglichkeit gefunden den Hotelgast etwas tiefer in die Tasche zu greifen. Die, pro Übernachtung, fällige Resort Fee (Hotel Amenity Fee, Facility Fee oder wie auch immer diese Abzockgebühr genannt wird) beinhaltet zwar Kleinigkeiten wie kostenlose Ortsgespräche, kostenloses WLAN usw. Die meisten Touristen werden dies aber sowieso nicht nutzen. Bei Buchung über das örtliche Reisebüro fällt diese Gebühr nicht an wer aber über das Internet bucht sollte sich vorher über die Höhe der Resort Fee informieren. Die Hotels verstecken diese Angabe gerne. Macht ein Hotel keinerlei Angaben zur Resort Fee, man liest aber davon im Internet dann sollte man die Finger davon lassen. Mit versteckten Gebühren und schwachsinnigen Marketingtricks versucht man hier Touristen zu betrügen.
Zu beachten ist auch dass auf die ausgewiesene Resort Fee meist noch eine Tax in Höhe von 12% und für Hotels nahe der Fremont Street 13% berechnet wird.

Im Luxor weiß man anscheinend selbst nicht was man verlangen soll. Es gibt hier zweierlei Angaben. Im Buchungsformular steht 14.50 und auf der Hilfeseite (Klick auf das ?) sind 12.95 angegeben. Ich vermute dass die Gebühr vor kurzem angehoben wurde und der Programmierer der Website einfach vergesssen hat den Hilfetext anzupassen.
